New Jerseys ska punk band, Joker’s Republic has spent this spring and summer releasing a string of renditions online of songs from Green Day, The Menzingers, Social Distortion and more. Joker’s Republic and their newest release adds a version of The Wonder Years, ‘Passing Through A Screen Door’ to the list. An addition to the bands upcoming digital album, Grand Theft Covers via Punkerton Records and will be available November 27. The trio puts their own spin on five songs that helped shape punk, pop punk, and emo.
The collection moves from Green Day and The Menzingers to Fall Out Boy, The Wonder Years, and Simple Plan, rebuilding each song around the band’s horn-free ska-punk sound, offbeat guitars, driving bass lines, hard-hitting drums, vocal harmonies, and high-energy arrangements.

Recorded and produced by Pete Steinkopf of The Bouncing Souls, these covers preserve what made the originals hit while sounding unmistakably like Joker’s Republic.
In September the band released, the Social Distortion original, ‘Don’t Take Me for Granted’, featuring Pete Steinkopf on the recording.
The digit album is available for pre-order on the bands record label, Punkerton Records Bandcamp.
