In a triumphant return that rings with the jubilant clatter of horns and the restless stomp from the streets, Big D and the Kids Table have re-emerged with renewed vigor, announcing their forthcoming long-playing record The Good Ole American Saturday Night, due June 12 via SideOneDummy Records.
After a five-year silence from the LP format, the Boston stalwarts arrive not as relics of the ska-punk rock sounds, but as seasoned craftsmen, sharpened by time and emboldened by experience. Their latest offering promises a spirited blend of revelry and reflection—a record that captures both the chaos and camaraderie of modern American life.

Leading the charge is the single “Whiplash,” a fast-talking, horn-driven number that barrels forward with reckless abandon. The track encapsulates the band’s signature blend of ska rhythms, punk urgency, and infectious swing, while maintaining the raw, communal spirit that has defined their legacy. Accompanied by a lively motion picture now circulating on YouTube, the single serves as both invitation and warning: Big D are back, and they have not softened with age.
The album itself is a reunion of trusted hands. Produced by Joe Gittleman—renowned for his work with The Mighty Mighty Bosstones—and Matt Appleton, the sessions were split between Allston’s Mad Oak Studio and a Vermont outpost known simply as The Station. The result is a record that feels both grounded and expansive, rooted in tradition yet unafraid to roam.
Across fourteen tracks, The Good Ole American Saturday Night paints a vivid portrait of working-class revelry and reflection. From the anthemic opener “Allston Storm” to the closing strains of “One Like You,” the album traverses themes of opportunity, chaos, and fleeting joy. The presence of longtime collaborators and a full horn section ensures a sound as rich as it is unruly.
In a musical landscape often preoccupied with polish, Big D and the Kids Table offer something far more vital: a reminder that music, at its best, is a shared experience—loud, imperfect, and alive.
