THE DROWNS ANNOUNCE NEW LP HARSH REALITY & LEAD SINGLE “RELENTLESS”

Seattles’ own, The Drowns will release their fourth studio album, Harsh Reality, on September 18 via Pirates Press Records. The announcement arrives alongside the release of the album’s lead single, “Relentless,” now available on major streaming platforms.

Produced by punk rock veteran Bill Stevenson of Descendents and Black Flag fame, Harsh Reality was recorded at The Blasting Room in Fort Collins, Colorado, and mixed by Jason Livermore. The album consists of 13 new songs and marks the band’s first full-length release since 2023’s Blacked Out.

According to the band, Harsh Reality centers on contemporary social and political realities, with themes rooted in working-class experience and economic hardship. The lead single, “Relentless,” addresses the pressures faced by workers navigating rising costs and economic instability. Vocalist and guitarist Rev Peters describes the song as reflecting the psychological strain of struggling to stay afloat while continually falling behind.

The recording sessions largely featured the band’s core lineup of Rev Peters, bassist and vocalist Andy Wylie, and drummer Jake Margolis. Additional contributions include guitar work from Zach Blair of Rise Against, Only Crime, and GWAR on the track “Vengeance,” and accordion performed by Matt Hensley of Flogging Molly and A-100s on “3rd & Pike.”

Recorded under Stevenson’s direction, the album builds upon the band’s established blend of melodic punk rock and street punk influences while emphasizing tighter songwriting and broader thematic scope. The Drowns have developed an international following through extensive touring and a steady release schedule, establishing themselves as a regular presence within the contemporary punk community.

In support of Harsh Reality, the band will maintain an extensive touring schedule throughout 2026. Upcoming appearances include dates with Agent Orange, The Bouncing Souls, The Suicide Machines, Death By Stereo, and Teenage Bottlerocket, along with a return to the United Kingdom’s Rebellion Festival in Blackpool.
